Language

Students at St Bonaventure’s College will have the opportunity to study Italian as the language offered as part of our curriculum.

In today's interconnected world, bilingualism enhances cognitive abilities, cultural awareness, and career prospects. Italian, in particular, offers students a gateway to rich cultural and religious heritage, art, music, and history. Not only does this beautiful language align magnificently with our Franciscan Charism, and with St Bonaventure himself, it also aligns well with Australia's multicultural society, fostering greater empathy and global understanding.

Learning Italian can improve students' problem-solving skills, memory, and multitasking abilities. It opens opportunities for travel, study, and work in Italy. By studying Italian, our students not only gain linguistic skills but also develop a deeper appreciation for diverse perspectives, preparing them to thrive in a globalised future. We are committed to providing a comprehensive language program that supports our students' academic and personal growth.

The College is committed to the provision of an overseas immersion opportunity for students who continue their language studies into the senior school. When the first cohort of students enter the senior school the College will undertake a biannual immersion to St Bonaventure’s birthplace, Bagnoregio, and to Assisi, the birthplace of St Francis of Assisi and the spiritual centre for the Franciscan Order.
