Junior School (Prep - Year 4)

St Bonaventure’s College curriculum in the Junior School follows the Australian Curriculum. The Australian Curriculum is designed to develop successful learners; confident and creative individuals; and active and informed young people who are ready to take their place in society.

In Prep at St Bonaventure’s, students will learn from their teachers and through their interactions with others. They will experiment, practise and play in the classroom and school community.
Across the Junior School, the College prioritises literacy and numeracy development for all students. In addition to the College’s targeted Literacy and Numeracy enhancement and extension program, each student will participate in a Franciscan styled Service-Learning Program.

Learning in the classroom and belonging to the College community are key to the first year at the College. By the end of Year 2, students will have a much stronger understanding of themselves and will begin to connect with the wider community. In Year 3 and Year 4, students will become more independent. Students will communicate with others more effectively. The curriculum further builds students’ essential knowledge and skills in literacy, consolidating learning to read and write.

In addition to the General Capabilities and Cross-curriculum priorities students in the Junior School will access learning entitlement in the following learning areas:
