The Middle Years of learning are a significant time for students in the formation of their learning habits, attitudes and approaches to learning and wellbeing and in the development and shaping of relationships with peers, teachers, and at home with family.
St Bonaventure’s College understands the needs of Middle Years learners is different to that of learners in the Junior Years. While accessing entitlement to the Australian Curriculum, students in Years 5 and 6 learn to take positive actions for their wellbeing. They are expected to have developed skills and dispositions to allow them to relate to and communicate well with others. Our Middle School learners ask challenging questions and are encouraged to use a variety of tools to seek answers. In following the examples provided and becoming confident as learners, students will make informed decisions and act responsibly.
Each student in the Middle School will participate in a Franciscan styled Service-Learning Program.
St Bonaventure’s College prioritises the development of digital literacy skills across the curriculum in the Middle School including proficiency and eventual mastery of AI technologies.
In the Middle School students will experience rich specialisation within elective subject areas, and, with their Learning Growth Coach, will begin to identify their preferred areas of specialisation for their ‘next step’ into the Senior School.
St Bonaventure’s College offers a Gifted and Talented Enrichment (GaTE) program in the Middle School.
